LEW GEFFEN SOTHEBY’S INTERNATIONAL REALTY RANDBURG HOST A FREE RENOVATIONS WORKSHOP

On Friday 10 March, the team from Lew Geffen Sotheby’s Randburg hosted a free renovations workshop at the Happiness Café in Blairgowrie. The speakers at the event were Marius Erasmus (Architectural Designer) and Lynn Pelser (Interior Decorator), two experienced players in the industry.

Adelle Morrissey, the Lew Geffen Sotheby’s Randburg area specialist in Blairgowrie, has a passion for home renovations and is determined to increase the value of the property market in the area, whilst also benefitting the community by providing these free workshop sessions; whether the interest lies in refurbishing the home for selling, or personal renovation. Tips provided in these workshops are relevant and useful for the community; topics will include gardening, interior design, architectural design and all round home improvement in order to lift the value of properties. The first workshop was open to members of the public, who all enjoyed some breakfast, a short presentation and question and answer session.

The key elements that came out of the presentation were tips and tricks on how to improve your home, particularly for sellers, in the most cost effective way to ensure maximum re-sale value. Lynn Pelser spoke about specifically gearing ones house for the market and keeping the buyer in mind. The minimalist trend is huge amongst interior designers and DIY blogs. Her key points alluded to this and focused on how to make the home uncluttered in order to maximize the space, the view and the lighting. She used this theme throughout her presentation, advising home owners to depersonalize the space and remove at least 75% of the things they have hanging around: ‘as a buyer you want to visualize yourself in that space, so you can never be clean enough on show days”.

Marius Erasmus is a well-known architectural designer who conceptualised and designed big buildings and malls like Silverstar Casino and Sandton City. Now he works specifically in the Blairgowrie area renovating houses that are on the market. His main advice was  “away with the small stuff and in with the big stuff”, also touching on the importance of minimalism and simplicity.

Lew Geffen Sotheby’s Randburg will be hosting four of these workshops this year and anyone is welcome. The next one will be during the month of June so be sure to follow Randburg Sotheby's on Facebook for up and coming events!
