European Union’s “Hello Kiwi” brings Greek kiwi fruit to SA

posted on

Livewired Public Relations agency recently held a very successful conference for their international client Novacert, at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand. Livewired assisted in the export promotion for the European Union’s Kiwi fruit programme called ‘Hello Kiwi’.

The conference ran in conjunction with the Food and Hospitality Expo, where Livewired arranged a stand for ‘Hello Kiwi’ to meet customers, retailers and visitors at the exhibition. The European Union’s Hello Kiwi programme, to promote the export of kiwi fruit grown in Europe, is set to change the current situation where South Africa is exporting fresh fruit to Greece, while Greece only exports processed fruit and vegetables to South Africa, says Panagiotis Dermetzoglou from the economic and commercial affairs office at the Greek embassy in Pretoria.Retail importers, Greek embassy officials and members of the Fresh Produce Importers Association among others, attended the conference to make new business connections. Major retailers in South Africa and the Fresh Produce Importers Association are set to fly to Greece at the end of June to meet with Greek co-operatives and view the Kiwi Fruit and to further discuss the business partnership to export Kiwi fruit to South Africa to be enjoyed by the general public and sold in stores.

What a privilege it is for the Livewired team to be part of this exciting business venture.
